January Edition of The President’s Newsletter
As the first two weeks of the new year prove to be fast moving, I’m looking forward to the time spent working with you all in 2021 and the opportunities the new year will bring. There’s no doubt we will continue to build on our efforts from last year. Our pace will continue to be aggressive as we align and equip ourselves to better support consumers and state-based regulation during these consistent, yet unpredictable times.
Earlier this month, we handled the task of assigning committee chairs and co-chairs. Committees, and of course member meetings, are two of a state insurance regulator’s best opportunities to collaborate and network. While I am hopeful for the time when we can all meet in person, I look forward to continuing to find ways to engage with you all virtually. Collaboration is necessary for the work that we do, especially our committee work.
This first edition of The President’s Newsletter covers the committee announcements, highlights the 150th anniversary of the founding of the NAIC, and includes recent press releases and Consumer Insights for your quick reference.
These are just a few of the items included in my first edition of The President’s Newsletter.
The NAIC Announces Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs
The NAIC named its 2021 committee chairs and vice chairs, and it assigned members to the organization's standing committees based on preferences, experience, and requirements established by the NAIC's Bylaws.
This year's committee chairs have the expertise, experience and agility required to protect consumers and guide the insurance sector through these dynamic times. I look forward to a productive year and appreciate your commitment and service to the public and the NAIC.

The NAIC Is 150 Years Strong
It’s time to celebrate! This year, the NAIC turns 150. One way the organization is recognizing its sesquicentennial is through a timeline highlighting 150 years of collaboration. It's a pretty cool interactive tool. Be sure to explore the tool, and expect to discover moments in history that you may not have known about. Also, plans are in the works for engaging members, employees and consumers with activities through social media campaigns that incorporate Throw Back Thursdays and 150 Insurance Tips.
“The Regulators” Podcast
Shortly after being elected President in December 2020, I had the pleasure of being the guest on “The Regulators” podcast, hosted by NAIC Chief Executive Officer, Mike Consedine. It was a great conversation; if you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to Season 2 Episode 10 of “The Regulators” podcast, click here.
