2024 Fall National Meeting Building Tribal Relationships

NAIC to Host Joint Member Diversity Leadership Breakfast Forum and American Indian and Alaska Native Liaison Committee Session at Fall National Meeting

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) will host its 2024 Fall National Meeting in Denver, Colorado, November 16-19, 2024. A special session within this fall’s meeting is the Joint Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Member Diversity Leadership Breakfast Forum and the NAIC American Indian and Alaska Native Liaison Committee session, scheduled for Monday, November 18, 2024.

The event, Mind the Gap: Building Tribal Relationships – Exploring and Expanding Medical Access through Education, Insurance, and Understanding, is aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration on critical issues impacting American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

The session will include breakfast (limited seating) from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. MT, followed by the American Indian and Alaska Native Liaison Committee Meeting from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. MT at the Gaylord Rockies Hotel—Juniper Ballroom, Level 1.

The meeting will feature several agenda items, including:

  • A presentation on medical education strategies for American Indians and Alaska Natives by Bill Snyder with Leavitt Partners and Dr. LeeAnna Muzquiz, an American Indian family physician and associate dean of admissions at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
  • A presentation on producer outreach to tribal members providing access to affordable insurance products by Brendan McKenna, Vice President of Tribal First, and a participating tribal member of the Pueblo of Nambe of New Mexico.
  • A panel discussion focused on how state-based insurance regulators support tribal communities, featuring American Indian and Alaska Native Liaison Committee Chair, and Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready, Alaska Insurance Director Lori K. Wing-Heier and  Evelyn Boswell, NAIC Chief Diversity Officer.
