Susan Greenwell is senior vice president and head of global government relations at MetLife, a global provider of life insurance, annuities, employee benefits and asset management. In her role, she serves as an advisor to the company’s business leaders and supports MetLife’s position in all relevant political, regulatory and legislative arenas in the U.S. and in forty countries in Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Greenwell is also responsible for overseeing MetLife’s relationships with external partners such as trade associations, think tanks, and academic experts.

Greenwell had been leading MetLife’s international government relations department since 2007 and prior to that served as vice president in the Office of the Chairman, President and CEO. She joined the company as chief of staff to the President of International in 2004. Prior to joining MetLife, Greenwell held positions at the Weatherhead East Asian Institute of Columbia University, the American Forum for Global Education, and Xi’an Jiaotong University in China.
