Alaska Insurance Companies - MANDATED

New for 2018:

All admitted insurance companies are mandated to file and pay premium tax and annual fees through OPTins effective 12/31/2017. For more information please read Regulatory Order 17-05.

Mandatory Premium Tax filings and payments:

Annual premium tax report and payments
Quarterly estimated tax report and payment required if $10,000 or more in premium tax was paid the previous year.

Important Due Dates

• Premium Tax Annual Filing – March 1
• Premium Tax Filing Quarter One – May 31
• Premium Tax Filing Quarter Two – August 31
• Premium Tax Filing Quarter Three – November 30

Alaska Surplus Lines Brokers - MANDATED

All surplus lines brokers are mandated to file a Quarterly Report and pay premium tax and filing fees through OPTins effective the first quarter of 2018. For more information please read Regulatory Order 17-08.

Mandatory Quarterly Report filings and payments:

Quarterly Report and payment due only if monetary transactions occurred during the quarter.

Important Due Dates

• Quarter One – June 1
• Quarter Two – September 1
• Quarter Three – December 1
• Quarter Four – March 1

Alaska Registered Risk Purchasing Groups and Risk Retention Groups – OPTIONAL

Purchasing Groups and Risk Retention Groups may file their annual registration form and pay the renewal fee of $200 through OPTins beginning with the 2019 registration year.  The due date for the form and payment is December 31.  Failure to file the completed form with payment by January 31 of the registration year will result in the registration being discontinued as of December 31 of the prior year.
