This talk is designed to look at 2 scenarios. First, we will examine the cycles of decline and decentralization of cities in general and NYC in particular, and the cultural, economic, political changes this could provoke. Second, we will look at how Americans found a way to cope with their COVID confinement and in the process reinvented the American home and the role of the American home. Here too the implications are enormous. It will change the way we raise our kids, the relationships between generations, how people buy for the family and the home. COVID is working with trends already in play, but their acceleration leaves America on the verge of transformational changes.
