Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities

Organizational Documents

• In Hawaii, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and limited liability partnerships are registered with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Business Registration Division (BREG). In addition, the registry contains trade names, trademarks and service marks.

Corporate License Requirements

• Evidence of approved registration with the Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs Business Registration Division;
• Copy of approved trade name registration with the Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs Business Registration Division
• Name a qualified Designated Representative, who is a licensed producer and attach a copy of the individual's producer license;

Other Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age
• Any person who is engaged in the business of insurance or who is about to engage in the business of insurance in this State and who has been convicted of any felony shall request the commissioner's written consent to engage in the business of insurance as required in §431:2-201.3
• Has paid the applicable fee
• Has designated a licensed producer who is a natural person responsible for the Business entity's compliance with the insurance laws and rules of this State;
• Any license producer so designated or empowered by more than one corporation or partnership, except when the corporation or partnership is an affiliate of another corporation or partnership, if the same person, directly or indirectly through one or more intermediaries, controls both corporations or partnerships
• A complete application for a Resident Business Entity producer license includes:
