Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities
Organizational Documents
- All business entities should be aware that other licensing and registration requirements may exist. Contact the Secretary of State at (505) 827-4508.
Other Requirements
- Must be licensed in good standing in the agency's home state for all lines for which the agency is applying for a non-resident license. Can apply by paper or online.
- Submit application with a check or money order for appropriate amount. License fee is $30.00. Affiliate appointment fee is $20.00 for each affiliate, per line of business. Fee for adding line(s) of authority to an existing license is $30.00. Checks must be made payable to OSI. Incomplete applications will be returned. All fees are deemed earned when paid NMSA 59A-6.1
- New Mexico does not require that the agent designated to act on behalf of the business entity be an officer or partner in the business entity. The designee need only be licensed as a licensed producer in the state.
- If you answer "yes" to any of the background questions, please attach supporting documentation to the application or submit to NIPR attachment warehouse.
Appointment Requirements After Licensing
- Affiliate(s) must be added within 60 days from the date the license is issued. Submit form 202B with fees.
Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals
Appointment Requirements
- Appointments can be submitted electronically or by paper by the Insurer. Appointment fee is $20.00 per line of business. Agent must be appointed within 60 days from the date the license is issued.
Other Requirements
- Must be licensed in good standing in your home state for all lines for which you are applying for as a non-resident license.
- Submit application online or by paper. License fee is $30.00. Make checks payable to OSI. All fees are deemed earned when paid and are not refundable.
- Fee for adding line(s) of authority to an existing license is $30.00.
- Must hold or apply for life when applying for variable contacts.
- FINRA Status requirements: Prior to applying for a Variable Contracts license, an individual must be registered with FINRA.
Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities

- To activate a license, applicant must not be inactive over five years.

- Must hold or apply for life when applying for variable contacts.
FINRA Status requirements: Prior to applying for a Variable Contracts license, an individual must be registered with FINRA.
