Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities
Appointment Requirements
- Must be submitted electronically.
- No initial appointment required for licensing as of 07/01/01.
- Appointments must be done within fifteen days of signing of the agency contract or the first insurance application is submitted.
Other Requirements
- Electronic submission of initial application.
- No Business Entity can have a Surplus Lines license - individuals only.
Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals
Appointment Requirements
- Must be submitted electronically
- No initial appointment required for licensing as of 07/01/01.
- Appointments must be done within fifteen days of signing of the agency contract or the first insurance application is submitted.
Other Requirements
- Applications on the NAIC Uniform application plus fee of $30.00 for those terminated previous to 12/31/2009. Reinstatement applications are now done on line.
Surplus Lines Licensing
- Electronic submission of initial application. For additional information on surplus lines licensing, visit the South Dakota web site at (http://www.dlr.sd.gov/insurance/)
- No bond required for non-resident surplus lines applicants.
- Must hold a non-resident producer license for property/casualty.
