Affinity Groups
Voluntary groups who share common interests, backgrounds, and/or goals to create and foster an inclusive environment where they feel challenged, empowered, and supported in developing and maximizing their personal potential and value to the organization.
Promoting Inclusion Together
Affinity groups provide safe forums and are instrumental in helping team members feel a sense of belonging while creating awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
HOLA (Hispanic Origins and Latinx Allies)
HOLA is committed to supporting the Hispanic and Latinx communities of the NAIC, the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), and the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (Compact) with the goal of helping all thrive within the organization and throughout the community. HOLA will promote the NAIC as an employer of choice in the Hispanic and Latinx communities by aiding in recruiting, retaining, and developing diverse talent; providing education/awareness/exposure about the issues and challenges that affect the communities, and working to empower the Hispanic and Latinx communities by celebrating and honoring the history, cultures, and achievements.
See Her
See Her will create an open and welcoming environment where women, allies, and interested parties can share, learn, and teach others about empowerment, work-life balance, and other issues that affect women. See Her will also provide employees an opportunity to connect with others in the group to identify, develop, and enhance their knowledge, interests, skills, and experience to reach their full potential. Members will work to inspire each other, learn about how to support women, develop skills dealing with issues of DE&I, build leadership skills, and help the NAIC and its affiliates create policies and procedures to support women.
The Umbrella Alliance
The Umbrella Alliance will work to create an open and welcoming environment where members of the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and interested parties can share, learn, and teach others about issues and business that affects the LGBTQIA+ sphere. This will include educating staff and management of the NAIC and industry leaders to improve the working environment and policies for LGBTQIA+ employees and promoting the NAIC as a safe, inclusive, welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ staff, which will improve the attraction and retention of LGBTQIA+ staff at the NAIC.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report 2021–2022
DE&I is an essential part of our culture, not a one-time initiative. We have made an intentional investment to integrate DE&I throughout the organization.
