Commissioner Kathleen Birrane Participates in EIOPA 2022 Conference
On June 21, 2022, NAIC Innovation Cybersecurity and Technology Committee and Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration Kathleen A. Birrane participated virtually in the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority’s (EIOPA) 2022 conference “From uncertainty to strength: Supervision for an economy in transformation,” giving remarks on the panel “Reflecting new risk into regulatory frameworks. Commissioner Birrane spoke to the importance of understanding the intricacies of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and how companies should embrace diversity issue moving forward.

As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers.
