KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 17, 2026)

NAIC Names Jeff Ahlers Chief Financial Officer

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has named Jeff Ahlers, CPA, as its Chief Financial Officer, effective today. Ahlers will be based out of Kansas City, Mo. 

“A future-focused leader with a people-centered approach, Jeff’s strategic financial expertise, collaborative style, and strong alignment with the NAIC's mission and guiding principles are a great fit as we support state insurance regulators in protecting consumers,” said NAIC CEO Jeff Johnston.  

“As he joins the NAIC’s senior management team, Jeff’s skillset further strengthens the organization in an evolving financial environment,” said Virginia Insurance Commissioner and NAIC President Scott A. White

A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Business, Ahlers joins the NAIC from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC). While at Blue KC, he led teams responsible for financial reporting, treasury, finance technology, tax, and financial operations and partnered closely with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and enterprise performance management.
