NAIC Spring National Meeting to Advance Modernization, Resilience, and Consumer Protection

On March 22–25, state insurance regulators will gather in San Diego for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (NAIC) 2026 Spring National Meeting, where they will continue working together on key initiatives addressing the challenges and pressures facing consumers and insurance markets.

Joined by their counterparts across the globe, industry leaders, and interested parties, state insurance regulators will advance work on issues including the NAIC’s 2026 strategic priorities:

  • Enhancing capital and investment frameworks.
  • Enhancing data architecture, predictive analysis, and market analysis.
  • Increasing resilience through regulation, mitigation, and public partnership.
  • Leading on AI model governance, innovation oversight, and cyber threats.

On March 23, NAIC President and Virginia Insurance Commissioner Scott A. White will deliver the event’s keynote address.

“As natural disasters intensify, technology revolutionizes everyday life, and financial risks evolve, state insurance regulators are leading amid change by modernizing oversight, boosting resilience, and improving market analysis,” said NAIC President and Virginia Insurance Commissioner Scott A. White. “Our national meeting agenda will help ensure our state-based system remains strong, forward-looking, and centered on protecting consumers no matter the landscape.”

“State insurance regulators are first responders in the fight for safer communities. Wildfires, hurricanes, and floods are growing national and global threats, and going it alone doesn’t get the job done for any state,” said California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara. “California is proud to host insurance commissioners from across the country at this pivotal moment for consumers and insurance markets.”

The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the NAIC, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight.
