Kaitlin Asrow

Kaitlin Asrow was appointed Acting Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) by Gov. Kathy Hochul, effective Oct. 18, 2025.
Prior to her appointment, Acting Superintendent Asrow served as executive deputy superintendent of the DFS’ research and innovation division. In that role, she led the regulation of virtual currency entities and oversaw department-wide initiatives on innovation policy, economic research, financial inclusion, and data governance. Since joining the DFS in 2022, she has been instrumental in advancing its operational modernization and transformation efforts.
Acting Superintendent Asrow previously served as a senior policy advisor for the Bank of San Francisco and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. A recognized leader in financial services innovation and policy, Acting Superintendent Asrow has published extensively on data policy, including an evaluation of data protection and data rights in the U.S. and a review of open banking.
Acting Superintendent Asrow earned a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from The University of Chicago (Chicago, IL) and a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University (Stanford, CA).
