Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities

Other Requirements

  • Non-Resident Business entity must have at least one designated individual with an ACTIVE license for the same line(s) of authority.

    NOTE: To ADD or DELETE Designated Individuals at a later date you must submit an electronic request through eServices at http://insurance.ky.gov.
    Additional designees MUST HAVE at least one active Insurer appointment PRIOR to designation

    Types of licenses available:

    • Adjuster – Public Adjuster - P & C, Independent Adjuster – P & C, Crop, or Workers Compensation.
    • Agent – Casualty, Health, Life, Property, Personal Lines, Variable Life & Variable Annuities, Credit, Crop, Travel, Rental Vehicle
    • Consultant – Life and Health Consultant; Property & Casualty Consultant
    • Managing General Agent
    • Reinsurance Intermediary Broker or Reinsurance Intermediary Manager
    • Surplus Lines Broker
    • Third Party Administrator
    • Life Settlement Broker; Life Settlement Provider

Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals

Other Requirements

  • Apply ONLINE through NIPR for ANY type of Kentucky LICENSE
  • Appointments must be processed online through approved providers or NIPR.

  • Letter of Certification only if resident license status cannot be verified through Producer Database (PDB).

    Types of licenses available:

    • Adjuster – Independent Adjuster – P & C, Crop or Workers Compensation; Staff Adjuster – P & C, Crop, or Workers Compensation; Public Adjuster – P & C.

    • Apprentice Adjuster –Must have sponsor (licensed KY adjuster), AND MUST reside and work in Kentuck to qualify.
  • Submit proof of Pre-licensing completion by fax (502) 564-3384
  • Kentucky background reports must be obtained online at http://courts.ky.gov. Register for account, then order online.  Copy will be sent to DOI by Administrative Office of the Courts. 
  • Submit proof of Financial Responsibility, if applicable

    EXAMINATION: Once application and all applicable documentation is received and processed, examination may be scheduled through a password secured eServices account at http://insurance.ky.gov.
